Jolinda Porfidio

What does being involved with Catch the Wave of Hope mean to you? Everyone should have the opportunity to live full and productive lives. For many, that dream has been wrenched from them. Being part of Catch the Wave of Hope not only provides a pathway to help restore some of those shattered lives, it is a vehicle of prevention. Through awareness, many will escape this fate. Through awareness, many will rise up and declare war on an evil that should not exist in our society.

Jolinda Porfidio began her career covering politics on the Mexican border, where she became immersed in one of the poorest cultures in America. Her work at the Harlingen Valley Morning Star uncovered the illegal sale of free USDA cheese across the border in Matamoros, Mexico. In 1985, Porfidio moved to Florida and began working at the Fort Pierce Tribune. While there, she worked her way up to the position of Business Editor. After a short sabbatical, she joined her husband, Steve Manos, at The Stone Quarry – a company that has been on the forefront of natural stone design. Porfidio has worked on residential projects in some of the most prestigious communities in Palm Beach and Martin Counties, including Jupiter Inlet Colony, Trump National, The Bear’s Club, Lost Tree, Frenchman’s, Sewall’s Point, Jonathan’s Landing and Admiral’s Cove. Her company was commissioned to build the granite “towers” – a feature of the 9/11 Memorial in Tequesta. Their work can be seen at The Ritz Carlton in Jupiter and Orlando, Whole Foods in Palm Beach Gardens, the Palm Beach International Airport, the Palm Beach Gardens Mall and other commercial locations.

Education, Porfidio graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism in 1982. While at Ohio State, she earned the coveted position of covering the Ohio State Legislature for The Lantern, the student paper. She is an ordained minister, is trained in inner healing, spent 14 years on the healing teams at Maranatha Church and is the Worship Leader at Visionary Centers International Church.
